Storing and traveling with temperature-sensitive vials

Where a vial should live, what light and temperature do to it, and how to carry one without ruining it.

Most mixed vials want to live at 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) — normal fridge temperature — and out of the light. The practical setup:

  • A mini fridge gives vials a dedicated, stable spot (door shelves of a kitchen fridge are the warmest, most-jostled place in it).
  • A min/max thermometer tells you whether the fridge actually held its range overnight — the only way to know for sure.
  • A foam vial case plus amber bags handle the padding and the light.

Flying? Medical supplies and cold packs are routine at airport security in every major country — keep things in an insulated travel case and everything in its original labeled packaging, which is what lets syringes and oversized liquids through.
