Microwavable Heat Pack

A cloth pack filled with grain or clay beads that holds gentle warmth for half an hour after a minute in the microwave.

Why you’d want it: For a sore, lumpy site a day or two later — once the first cold-pack stage is over — warmth is what helps it settle. Also just nice to hold.

Picking tip: Cold first, heat later: cold in the first day for bruising, warmth after that for a lump that's slow to go. A small pack is the right size for a thigh or stomach — the long neck-shaped ones are awkward. Always wrap it in a towel; skin doesn't need it hot.
