Alcohol pads vs alcohol spray: which for wiping down?
Quick answer
Same active ingredient, 70% isopropyl alcohol, and two different jobs. The pads come individually wrapped and sterile, 200 to a box, which is what makes one usable on a vial stopper or a patch of skin. The spray is a bottle for trays, work surfaces and the outside of things; it is not individually wrapped and not sold sterile, so it is not the thing to wipe a stopper with. Most setups end up with both, and they are both cheap.

Which should you choose?
- Pick the pads for anything that touches a stopper or skin: sealed until the moment you use it is the whole point of the sachet.
- Pick the spray for the surface you work on, the outside of a case, and the tray — the places a sachet is an expensive way to clean a large area.
- If alcohol leaves your skin sore after weeks of pads, the answer is not the spray; it is the chlorhexidine or benzalkonium wipes in the same category.

Can I spray alcohol onto a vial stopper instead of using a pad?
The spray is not sold sterile or individually wrapped, and a bottle that has been opened and handled is not the same as a sealed sachet. Use a pad on a stopper.
Why 70% and not 99%?
70% is the standard strength on skin-prep wipes; the catalogue records the active ingredient for each product so you can check what you are buying rather than guess from the title.
Is the spray cheaper?
