Why you’d want it: Flip-off caps are stiff, and a thumbnail on a metal edge is how people cut themselves. This does it cleanly, every time.

Picking tip: Standard 3 mL and 10 mL vials have 13 mm and 20 mm caps, so get the opener that lists both sizes. It removes the metal disc only — the rubber stopper stays put, and still gets wiped with alcohol before the needle goes in.
