Why you’d want it: Once the flip-top is off, the stopper sits bare in the fridge. A cap keeps dust off it and the colour tells you which vial is which without reading labels.

Picking tip: A cap keeps dust off — it does not replace wiping the stopper with alcohol before every draw. Buy the pack that matches your vial size; 3 mL and 10 mL necks are different and a loose cap is pointless.
