Why you’d want it: A vial loose in a backpack breaks; a vial in a cooler sweats. This is the in-between: cold enough for a day out, padded enough for a suitcase.

Picking tip: Check the slot size in the photos — most are cut for standard 10 mL vials and 3 mL ones need the elastic loops. A case with a separate ice-pack pocket keeps the vial off the ice, which matters: a vial pressed straight against a frozen pack can freeze, and freezing ruins the contents.
