Magnesium Glycinate

Magnesium bound to glycine, the form most people take in the evening because it is gentle on the stomach. Capsules, usually 200–400 mg a day across two.

  • Glycinate / bisglycinate form
  • Capsules
  • 60–240 count

Why you’d want it: The most commonly bought mineral on any supplement shelf, and the form worth choosing over the cheap oxide, which mostly passes straight through.

Picking tip: The number on the front is often the weight of the whole compound; look for 'elemental magnesium' on the back, which is the real amount (about 100–200 mg a day is the usual range people take). 'Glycinate' or 'bisglycinate' on the label, not 'oxide'. Take it with food the first few days.

Supplements are food, not medicine: nothing here treats or prevents anything. If you take any medicine, ask a pharmacist first.
