Vitamin C 1,000 mg
Ascorbic acid tablets, usually 1,000 mg, often with rose hips or bioflavonoids. Timed-release and 'buffered' versions are gentler on the stomach.
- 1,000 mg
- Tablets or capsules
- 100–360 count
Why you’d want it: The cheapest vitamin on the shelf and the one people take alongside collagen, because collagen is built with it.
Picking tip: Plain ascorbic acid is fine and cheap. If it upsets your stomach, 'buffered' (calcium or sodium ascorbate) is the gentle kind. Take it with food; the body only keeps a few hundred milligrams at a time, so one big tablet a day is plenty.
Supplements are food, not medicine: nothing here treats or prevents anything. If you take any medicine, ask a pharmacist first.
